We will then access the inside of the tooth where the infected pulp lies. The pulp, infected bacteria and decayed nerve tissue will be removed, and the root canal will be thoroughly cleaned. Then the tooth will be sealed. A dental crown is typically used to prevent further damage and to restore the tooth to full function.
